More About Mood Indigo Workshops

BLUE:  How, Why, Where, When with Harriet Boon

Demo and hands-on session using a more organic approach to familiar indigo vats.

Material Fee $5.  Please bring gloves.  A baggie for your samples will be supplied.

Harriet Boon is a spinner, dyer and weaver.  She has been chasing Blue since the 70's and enjoys being an instructor as well as being a student.  Her most recent foray included studies in France.

A practical and inspirational talk plus demonstrations for weavers of all levels.  It will cover your weaving experience from start to finish, including:

- good warping practices and loom setup
- yarn choices:  a discussion of old favourites plus some nifty new yarns and how to use them effectively
- finishing techniques


SPINDLE SPINNING with Joan Russell

Spindle spinning is affordable, portable, fun and relaxing.  Expand your enjoyment of this spinning method as you are guided through the process of using a drop spindle to create your own hand spun yarn, explore tools available to spindlers and learn tips and tricks.  No experience is required.  Bring your own top or bottom whorl spindle.

HANG-A-BASKET with Wanda Haydt

      Sweet little basket designed to hang on your spinning wheel or anywhere useful.  Project is suitable for beginners.  

      Dimensions:  3" wooden base, height 6" and top diameter 5"

      Material fee - maximum $15

      Tools needed:  Small screwdriver or packer, small awl, towel and sharp scissors.

      Wanda Haydt has been exploring basketry for more than 20 years and instructing for 17.  Her personal preference is for baskets made in traditional style that are functional and useful as well as pleasing to the eye.  Over the years she has taught basket weaving in many locations throughout Ontario including Haliburton School of the Arts.  Wanda is an involved member of the active Southwestern Ontario Basketry Guild.  www.whbaskets.com
